More than 2,200 ADA members viewed the online 2010 Public Policy Workshop. The goal of the workshop was for each state affiliate to arrange appointments to meet with their Representatives and both Senators to discuss ADA's key messages for 2010.
Eight Webinar presentations were scheduled during March and April. In the opening session, Congressman Bruce Braley (D-Iowa) encouraged ADA members to be involved in the political process, to meet their elected officials, and to provide information and data that can help their elected officials make informed decisions that improve the health and wellness of Americans.
Viewers learned how to make a difference by being involved in government processes at both the federal and state levels. Presentations by congressional staff, a state legislator, and the First Lady of Maine, Karen Baldacci, gave first-hand tips for effective meetings.
