Volunteer

There are several volunteer opportunities at the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation. For more information about any of these positions, contact the Foundation at foundation@eatright.org or 800/877-1600, ext. 4773.

Board Member

The Foundation is governed by a 13-member board of directors that includes the President-Elect, Financial Officer and CEO of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Academy members and up to 5 public members. Board members serve a three year term.

State Fundraising Chairs

Volunteer fundraisers working on the state level, help the Foundation raise money for scholarships, Research and the Healthy Weight for Kids Program. In addition, they promote the programs of the Foundation to members of their state. State Fundraising Chairs can serve and unlimited term.

DPG Ambassadors

Volunteer fundraisers working on the DPG level, help the Foundation raise money for scholarships, Research and the Healthy Weight for Kids Program. In addition, they promote the programs of the Foundation to members of their DPG. DPG Ambassadors can serve and unlimited term.

Award Review Committees

All of the awards listed below are maintained and administered by the Foundation. Each award has separate criteria governing the composition of the review committee. Typically, review committees consist of three individuals whose area of expertise is determined by the focus or scope of the award. The majority of review committees are appointed or approved by the Foundation Chairman. Some awards are reviewed by committees selected by the Academy President, Editor and Chief of the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, CDR and sponsoring DPG and State Affiliates.

Scholarship Committee

The Foundation Scholarship Committee is comprised of nine Academy members appointed by the Foundation Board Chair. Each committee member serves a one three-year term. The deadline to apply for a scholarship is in February. On average the Foundation receives 700 to 750 applications.
