The following Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation Research Grants are available to all Academy members.

Abbott Nutrition Malnutrition Research Fellowship

This award, funded by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation via a grant from Abbott Nutrition, will provide a one year, full time Research Fellowship experience to a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who has completed a Masters or Doctoral degree. This position has the potential for extension into a second year, pending funding and satisfactory completion of year 1. The fellow will be paid $45,000 for the one year period beginning March 2, 2014. Deadline to apply is January 17, 2014.


Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics/Commission on Dietetics Simulation Research Fellowship - Deadline April 21, 2014

This award, funded by the Commission on Dietetics, will provide a one year, full time Research Fellowship in the field of simulation-based dietetics education to a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who has completed a Masters or Doctoral degree. This position has the potential for extension into a second year, pending funding and satisfactory completion of year 1. The fellow will be paid $54,180 for the one year period beginning May 12, 2014. Application should be submitted electronically as one single document to Alison Steiber at asteiber@eatright.org.


Allene Vaden Memorial Grant for Foodservice Management Research

This grant is given to encourage young academics to enhance and stimulate research in foodservice management.


Amy Joye Memorial Research Award

This grant is given to honor the memory of Amy Joye by fostering the scientific development of future nutrition leaders, especially in South Carolina and Georgia. Applicants are required to work with a mentor whose projects involve human research and focus on: Obesity prevention/weight control, Dietary assessment methodology to investigate/enhance accuracy of dietary reports or Fruit/vegetable gardens.


Ann A. Hertzler Research Grant

This grant is given to provide funding for research proposals based on the Academy's Research Agenda for Dietetics.


Colgate Palmolive Fellowship in Nutrition, Oral Health/Dental Education

This grant is given to support research in nutrition and oral health or dental education.


Diabetes Care and Education (DCE) DPG Karen Goldstein Memorial Grant for Diabetes MNT Application - Deadline Extended to November 15, 2014

This grant is given to provide financial support to a Diabetes Care and Education DPG member for outcomes research in diabetes medical nutrition therapy.


Dietitians in Nutrition Support DPG Research Grant

This grant is given to provide research funding to a Dietitians in Nutrition Support DPG member.


Healthy Aging DPG Community Based Applied Research/Best Practice Award New Grant!

This award encourages applied research projects that improve the nutritional status, wellbeing and independence of community residing older adults. Ideally, the award will be used to solve an identify problems pertaining to dietetic practice, program administration, service/care coordination and/or behavioral practices of older adults.


Herbert D. and Nylda Gemple Research Grant

This grant is given to encourage the development of and excellence in innovative and unique models to study the correlation of diet and nutrition in treating neurological disorders.


Jean Hankin Nutritional Epidemiology Research Grant

This grant is given to provide financial support to a doctoral student working on a dissertation in the area of nutritional epidemiology.


Julie O'Sullivan Maillet Research Grant

This grant is given for a research project that aims to demonstrate the value of dietetics professionals on the health of the public or demonstrate the evolving role of dietetics professionals in the profession.


McCormick Science Institute Research Award

This grant is given to provide funding for research proposals based on the Academy's Research Agenda for Dietetics. Current topic: Understanding the role of spices and health.


PepsiCo Healthy Lifestyles Innovation Research Grant

This grant is given to recognize and encourage innovative approaches to promote healthy living through nutrition and physical activity. A topic will be selected annually.


Vegetarian Nutrition Dietetic Practice Group Research Grant

This grant is given for innovative research relating to vegetarian nutrition to an individual who has been a member of the Vegetarian Nutrition Dietetic Practice Group for at least two years.
