Donor Spotlight: MetLife Foundation

MetLife Foundation supports the Academy Foundation through the RD-Parent Empowerment Program created to increase family involvement in children’s healthy choices. In collaboration with Healthy Children Healthy Futures and funded by the MetLife Foundation, this unique program brings the expertise of RDs into school and community settings to educate and empower parents to improve their families’ eating and physical activity habits. A $225,000 grant from the MetLife Foundation has allowed 12 RDs to lead projects in San Francisco, Chicago and Washington DC. Over 150 parents in 3 communities have learned how to shop smart, cook healthy and eat right because of this program. MetLife Foundation was created in 1976 to continue MetLife’s longstanding tradition of corporate contributions and community involvement. Since it was established, MetLife Foundation has provided more than $530 million in grants. For more information please visit www.metlife.com/metlife-foundation/.
