I completed two presentations using the Healthy Breakfast toolkit and made breakfast parfaits for kids. Thank you for the opportunity to present this topic and for the Healthy Breakfast RD Mini-Grant. A great idea that I hope more will take advantage of and utilize to bring nutrition to their communities.

We offered a parent/child "No-Recipe Cooking Class" using the Family Champions Toolkit and prepared three of the meals from the handout. Adding a simple strawberry/blueberry mix and some whole wheat mini-bagels made a terrific meal to share (pictured). The family discussions of key healthy behaviors and the interplay of various age groups in the meal preparation process were priceless! We discussed how they decided to put the ingredients together for the meal and how they might have done it differently! Everyone took away something from this valuable experience!

I am thrilled to be a Kids Eat Right Campaign Volunteer and to have received one of the Healthy Breakfast RD Mini-Grants. I completed six nutrition talks to kindergarten and 2nd grade students, reaching 120 students. I was able to spend the grant money on MyPlate visuals to engage the children.

I presented with my friends, Angela Miller and Kevan Bauer, to four first grade classes about the what, why and how's of a healthy breakfast. The students and teachers loved it. What fun!

I used the Healthy Breakfast toolkit to teach elementary students and teachers about breakfast. I used MyPlate to help discuss the different food groups and handed out the activity and parent information sheet for them to complete. I was also able to present the Healthy Snacking In a Nutshell toolkit at a meeting last month.

I was a recipient of a Family Champions RD Mini-Grant. One of the great things we were able to add to the lesson was small group cooking tables so everyone was able to prepare the entree. We also included a "mini-farmers market." We were able to partner with a local produce company that provided the fruits and vegetables at school district bid pricing so that we could pass the savings on to our customers. They were able to purchase all the fresh ingredients for the recipe we prepared in our class along with other seasonal produce. We plan on finding ways to offer these classes at many of our schools next school year. It is a great way to bring families together and share the importance of healthy choices and nutrition planning. Thanks again for the opportunity. I look forward to working with this curriculum and other new Kids Eat Right toolkits as well.
