April 2012 Everyday Heroes

Ingrid Adams, Ph.D., RD

Kentucky

I used the healthy breakfast toolkit to provide nutrition information to approximately 150 elementary high school students in the Lexington area. The students really were excited about the information and participated in the presentations!

Patricia Harper, MS, RD, LDN

Pennsylvania

I used the healthy breakfast toolkit during an educational session as part of the Living Well after-school wellness/lifestyle program. It's a new program that is being implemented in the Woodland Hills High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and reaches students ages 13 to 18.

I targeted the students and teachers at my local high school, providing a clear message of the importance for breakfast consumption. The healthy breakfast toolkit was a great resource.

I used the healthy breakfast toolkit to present to parents and teachers of the Head Start program in Tyler, Texas. I also plan to use the toolkit as part of my work with the local school health advisory council.
