RD Coach Spotlight: Dianne Pettit

Dianne Pettit RD Coach Spotlights: January 2011
Dianne Pettit, MS, RD, LD
RD Coach
Pella, Iowa

Being an RD coach has been a great experience. Working with kids in the school, as well as the entire staff, is a wonderful opportunity to educate everyone in the Energy Balance message. With our program, everyone is learning how easy making healthy lifestyle and food choices can be — from the cafeteria menu offerings, power picking lunch choices, increasing overall physical activity during the day to adding nutrition messages throughout the school. What a better place to educate our children and families but in the school. The Energy Balance 4 Kids program messages will truly impact how children'’s and community lives in years to come thanks to everyone working together — from school administrators, teachers, food service workers, parents and the most importantly the kids!

As a Des Moines area RD coach, the opportunity to work with and learn from such a great group of professionals is a privilege that I am very grateful. It is a wonderful feeling when the children, parents and staff, share their stories of how they are changing the way they make choices for meals and snacks. Thanks ANDF and funders for supporting an innovative program in our schools, making such a difference in so many people's lives!
