I grew up in the Chicago area and received my dietetics degree from the University of Illinois. What I loved about dietetics was the teaching aspect of it, so I became an elementary school teacher and recently received a Masters in Education. I was a stay-at-home mom for awhile and was always interested in how to motivate my kids to eat healthier. Yes, at home they were provided with a variety of healthy options, but once they entered school, it became a challenge. I love this program because we empower children with the knowledge about making wise food choices and we teach them the valuable skill of maintaining Energy Balance. We make it fun for kids to eat fruits and veggies and still be cool! I am excited to be part of this program and look forward to the 2010-2011 school year in the Des Moines area!
