Call for Position and Practice Paper Authors, Reviewers and Content Advisors

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, through the Academy Positions Committee (APC), is soliciting for authors, content advisors and reviewers for the following papers. APC is inviting you to identify individuals qualified to serve in these roles. Or, if you have expertise in any of the areas below and have interest in working on the development of a paper, please request an application. (See instructions below.)

Selection of author/s, a content advisor and external reviewers will begin when an adequate applicant pool is acquired. (Please see qualifications below.)

Position Papers

  • Food Insecurity in the United States
  • Child & Adolescent Nutrition Assistance Programs
  • Food & Nutrition Programs for Community-Residing Older Adults

Practice Papers

  • Nutrition Intervention & Human Immunodeficiency Virus Infection
  • Dietary Supplements: Guidelines for Considering Supplements for Patients/Clients
  • Role of the RDN in the Diagnosis and Management of Food Allergies

Position and Practice Papers on the Same Topic

  • Local Support for Nutrition Integrity in Schools (position paper) and Comprehensive School Nutrition Services (practice paper)

Author Qualifications

An author needs to meet the following criteria: demonstrates good writing skills, thorough and current knowledge of the topic, the ability to synthesize scientific data and the ability to meet deadlines. The individual must have the ability to participate in several conference calls (four to six) during the period of paper development. More than one author can be selected; however, one author must be a Registered Dietitian and a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. An author's commitment to developing a paper is 6-18 months. The author will have staff support from Academy Headquarters.

Reviewer Qualifications

Reviewers need to have critical thinking skills, writing ability, in-depth knowledge of the subject and current practice experience, as well as availability to accommodate a 30-day turnaround.

Content Advisor Qualifications

The content advisor will assist the author/s and APC workgroup in the development of the paper. The selected individual must be an expert in the field, demonstrating thorough and current knowledge of the topic. The content advisor will participate on all APC workgroup conference calls (four to six) during the period of paper development and must have the ability to meet deadlines. The individual will assist the workgroup in understanding the current science and practice of dietetics in the subject area.

For each individual suggested, please submit name, address, phone number and e-mail address as soon as possible. Individuals will receive, via e-mail, an invitation to apply and a request to submit his or her curriculum vitae.

Recognition for Authors, Reviewers, and Content Advisor 

Those involved in the development of the paper will be acknowledged at the end of the paper when it is published in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics..
