Networking

An Active Community of Professionals Sharing Knowledge, Skills and Ideas

  • Affiliate (State) Dietetic Associations—

State associations sponsor local continuing education programs, networking opportunities, scholarship fundraising efforts and more. Membership in one affiliate of your choice is included with your Academy membership.
  • Communities of Interest—

Use these interactive Web-based meeting places to share ideas and practice tips, join discussions, exchange professional development articles of interest and more. E-mail invitations are sent to specific member groups that each community serves, including students.

  • Dietetics Community—

Join other Academy members in this online community that provides a networking forum and private area to discuss pertinent professional issues with colleagues across the country—and the globe.

  • Dietetic Practice Groups (DPGs)—

Join one or more of Academy's professional-interest groups and update your specialized knowledge, share practice tips and establish relationships with colleagues around the world. A total of 28 DPGs cover areas from general wellness and weight management to food service management and complementary care.
  • Member Interest Groups (MIGs)—

Join an Academy MIG to connect with other food and nutrition practitioners with common interests, issues or backgrounds. MIGs focus on areas other practice or geographic location. They reflect the characteristics to the Academy's membership and the public it serves. Some examples are groups covering the interests of Latinos and Hispanics, Chinese, Filipinos, Blacks in Dietetics, members in the 50-year age range, and men in dietetics.
  • Mentoring—

Connect with your peers via national, affiliate (state) and DPG/MIG mentoring programs. Find out about the Academy's new eMentoring system.
