The Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) has established policies and procedures for application, review and maintenance of all levels of accreditation: candidacy and full accreditation.
The standards for ACEND-accredited programs were revised in February 2012 to align with the results from the 2010 practice audit conducted by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and requirements of the U.S. Department of Education. All ACEND-accredited programs must be in compliance with the February 2012 revision of the standards on or before June 1, 2012, in order to assure that program graduates are prepared to sit for updated registration examinations implemented by CDR in 2012.
2012 Accreditation Standards
Applications for candidacy and full accreditation must address the Accreditation Standards in effect at the time each application is submitted.
Self-Study Templates
The Self-Study Templates are designed to assist programs that are writing self-study reports under ACEND's 2012 Accreditation Standards. Three documents are needed for each program type:
- Directions
- Self-study template document
- Matrix forms
Use of the templates is mandatory.
